    Fantastic replacement
I was unsure whether to get this remote or a knock off at half the price. I’m so glad I got this.1. it’s a huge improvement over the original slim remote. Fits better in the hand, doesn’t get lost in the cushions, uses regular AAA batteries. And it adds so many new buttons! Power off, volume control, pause, etc which are very useful.2. Retains the Bluetooth functionality for connecting to shield. That way the shield doesn’t need to be visible or in line of sight.3. Adds IR connectivity to control the volume on my sound bar. I had to configure this through the shield settings and it worked great. Just had to choose the brand for my sound bar and it worked. Now I just use one remote. I got rid of my old shield remote as well as my TV remote and this is so much better!Just a note, there was a noticeable button-press lag in the beginning when I first paired the remote, but in under 10 minutes it was working fine. Not sure why that happened, but I’ve never that problem since.

    Original equipment remote.
I’ve tried a couple of chinese made replacement remotes And had been very disappointed.Build quality on this is excellent. The fit and feel is perfect.Functions perfectly and connect easily to your nvidia shield.Button functionality and responsiveness is perfect.Native connectivity is on spot.

  3. Mister Tango

Fantastic! Wouldn’t pair at first, but there’s a fix!
This is a fantastic replacement remote for older and newer Shields. Very solid. Uses standard size batteries, so no more running out of charge with the original slim remote. The higher quality rechargable Eneloop type batteries work great and make it easy to stay in business without throwing batteries away after one use.The back lighting is great and the remote illuminates when it is jostled. This is a nice feature if you’re looking for it in a drawer among other items. This remote has more functions than the original slim remote, which is nice (fast forward, rewind and Netflix). The shape is good. Sightly awkward, but not enough to really complain about. The solid build quality is a huge plus. It’s honestly a sharp remote design. Simple, but modern. The high build quality is obvious once you pick it up.THE ONLY HICCUP for me was that the remote did not want to pair out of the box. I went through all of the manual guidelines and also looked at some things online. No luck. Finally, I came back to Amazon and looked through the reviews. Another reviewer here provided the brilliant suggestion of resetting the remote — holding down specific buttons while inserting batteries –which worked PERFECTLY! A big thanks to that reviewer! I was getting ready to send it back when I found their suggestion.Once I reset the remote, all of the things that weren’t happening on the screen in earlier setup attempts were now working. Pairing took maybe 20 seconds. This replacement remote was well worth the price once I got it paired. It’s a high quality, solid piece of equipment that feels like it will last a long time. Add to that the great functionality, and you’ve got a pretty fantastic little piece of tech that will elevate your Shield experience.

Nothing is better than the original
After reading many reviews for the aftermarket copies available, I decided to purchase the Nvidia brand original. Sure I could of saved a few bucks but after reading reviews it was clear to me that it wasn’t worth taking a chance on “El Cheapo”. So I placed my order on the real deal. It arrived on time same day and I’ve noticed it feels like it must of gotten an upgrade. It’s light on buttons seem much more sensitive to any movement. The set up was easy and turning off my system and turning it back on programmed my Yamaha AV amp automatically to the same set up my old remote had. It works perfectly in every way. Confidence and originality is well worth the $10 I may have saved with an aftermarket brand. I’m so glad I didn’t waste my time on “El Cheapo” and bought the “Real deal”. My future doesn’t have a return or exchange in it and that is well worth $10. Enjoy and follow your heart always.

Gracias Nvidia.

Simply press Home and Back to place into pairing mode and my original Shield detects the new remote and works first time.Much more responsive and the dedicated volume buttons and back light make it a worthwhile upgrade.Top Tip: Hold Volume up and down together to Mute
